WOMEN’S HEALTH

Women’s health is shaped by the systems, policies, resources and power structures that determine whether women and girls can access quality, equitable and dignified care.

ACHGJ works across the life course to advance health systems that respond to women’s needs, rights and lived realities. Our work connects maternal, newborn and child health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, and women’s health across the life course.

MATERNAL, NEWBORN & CHILD HEALTH

We work to strengthen equitable and responsive health systems for women, newborns and children, with a focus on maternal health, newborn and child health, quality of care, and equitable access to essential services.

SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS

We advance sexual and reproductive health and rights by addressing the legal, policy, institutional and social barriers that shape access to care. Our work includes reproductive justice, contraception, abortion care, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and the protection of bodily autonomy and informed choice.

WOMEN’S HEALTH ACROSS THE LIFE COURSE

We address women’s health needs across different stages of life, recognising that health risks, access to care and experiences within health systems change over time. This includes adolescent health, reproductive and maternal health, non-communicable diseases, menopause, ageing and other health needs across the life course.

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, RIGHTS & SAFETY

We address gender-based violence as a health, rights and systems issue, focusing on prevention, survivor-centred responses, access to appropriate care and protection, and the policies and institutions that shape women’s safety, dignity and rights.
