Health systems determine who can access care, how care is financed and delivered, and whose needs are prioritised.
ACHGJ works to strengthen equitable, accountable and community-responsive health systems by addressing health financing, primary healthcare and community health systems, and the care economy that underpins health and wellbeing.
We examine how health systems are financed and how financial decisions shape access, equity and health outcomes. Our work advances inclusive financing approaches that reduce financial barriers, strengthen accountability and ensure resources respond to the needs of women and structurally marginalised communities.
We strengthen community health systems and primary healthcare by advancing community-led approaches, stronger links between communities and formal health systems, and more responsive models of care. Our focus is on ensuring that communities have meaningful voice and influence in how health services are designed and delivered.
We examine how paid and unpaid care work sustains health systems and economies, while remaining disproportionately carried by women. Our work advances recognition, redistribution and investment in care, connecting the care economy to gender equality, health systems and women’s economic justice.
