As a women-led Advocacy, Research, and Philanthropic Advisory group, we focus on empowering communities and promoting inclusive policies to improve health outcomes and reduce gender disparities.
About Us
We work towards promoting gender equality in Africa’s health system
What Drives Us
Focusing on gender justice in health systems is extremely important in order to ensure that all members of society, regardless of their gender, have access to the same quality of healthcare, and to ensure that nobody is discriminated against with regard to medical care.
Women are often underrepresented in many areas of the health sector, such as clinical research, medical education, and health policy decision-making. This is due to several factors, including discriminatory social norms, cultural expectations, and unequal access to education and training opportunities. Women are typically paid less, receive fewer promotions, and are given fewer job opportunities than men.
Our Values
Taking an intersectional approach
An intersectional approach to gendering health systems is important to address health inequities faced by women and gender-diverse people.
Dismantling power in health systems
We are committed to dismantling gender-biased policies, norms, and practices to create more equitable and inclusive systems that empower individuals and communities.
Innovation
Innovation for gender equality in health systems can help identify and address barriers that prevent women and gender-diverse people from accessing high-quality, respectful, and inclusive care.
Accountability
Accountability is essential for the Africa Center for Health Systems and Gender Justice to build trust, credibility, and confidence among stakeholders.
